Rebecca Lovejoy
B.App.Sc(Optom)
Rebecca was drawn to optometry because it is an area in healthcare where she could have a direct impact on people’s individual health and well-being. Rebecca graduated from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Optometry) and she never looked back.
Rebecca is enthused with all facets of Optometry. She believes wholeheartedly that people should have regular eye health checkups because she knows that how well someone can see is not necessarily an indicator of eye health. Without regular eye health checks, too much remains unseen until it is too late.
A visit to an optometrist for her own eyes in her youth in an attempt to relieve persistent headaches is a memory front and center for Rebecca. She recalls being nervous about answering the Optometrists’ questions for fear of answering them wrong. Whilst she didn’t end up in glasses, this memory has remained with Rebecca and has influenced her approach to kids and teens. She takes the extra step to build extra rapport and put them at ease.
Rebecca not only talks the talk, but she also walks the walk. She loves eyewear. So much so, that she has about 30 different pairs of frames. If there is a fun pair on display, she has to have a pair for herself!
